Street Markets

Mondays

The weekly local market in Denia is located in the area of “Torrecremada Esplanada” each Monday morning from 8 in the morning until 1.30 in the afternoon.

This area is situated at the right of the Avenida de Alicante when arriving at Denia by car on the CV-725 from the AP-7/N-332.

This local market in Dénia is fairly large offering a mix of clothing, ceramics, household goods and a mix of nuts and sweets for both locals and tourists.

A traditional churros stall (Spanish pastry) welcomes all visitors at the entrance. If you have small children, it is best to visit the market in June or in fall, as in summer it can be very warm.

Parking nearby can be a challenge, so it is best to park centrally in town and walk your way over there, enjoying the city and having the chance to sit down for a meal when strolling back.

How to get to the local market Dénia by public transport

The main bus terminal in the Plaza Juan Carlos is where local and intercity buses, such as ALSA, have a stop. This bus station is at a five-minute walk from the market entrance.

In the center of this inland village there is the small local market in Callosa on the church square. Because of its small size, it offers about 30 stalls.

The town is connected to Polop and La Nucia on one side. To Altea La Vella from the other side . As it is in the center it can be difficult to park your car. Therefore it is advised to come early to enjoy the market and the town.

The ALSA bus stop, connecting to Benidorm and Tarbena is at the entrance of the village. Keep in mind that the town center is about a kilometre further uphill.

The food market with all the fresh served products has moved back to its original spot in the Avenida la Nucia. It has been amplified recently so everyone can safely attend the market while maintaining social distance.

Both parts of the market are connected by the Avenida Valencia, and are less than a 5-minute walk apart.

This local market la Cala is best known for the fresh foods and the second-hand clothing stalls.

Many people confuse the location of this market with Finestrat. Because the street, where the lowest part of the market starts, is part of Villajoyosa. However, the roundabout that connects to this road and the beach on the other side belong to Finestrat.

You can walk around the market and look at all the new and second-hand goods they sell. And afterward, you can go down to the beach to enjoy the bars and restaurants that surround this Cala. When you go in summer you can bring your towels and a bathing suit and have an afternoon at the beach after your visit.

The tram-via stops at the shopping centre of Finestrat. From there it is a 2-kilometre walk to the local market la Cala. Therefore, the best way to go there is by car, as there is plenty of parking space around.

The lively Almoradi Market boasts a lovely setting in the streets around the beautiful Church Square.

For a small town Almoradi has a lot of charm, and its market is no exception. In 2011 the market was declared a Place of Provincial Tourist Interest.

This is a real street market, and with the market stall awnings creating shady little alleys, is reminiscent of an Arab souk. There are lovely areas to sit and relax around the square and the church is well worth a visit.

The market is open every Saturday morning from 09:00 – 14:00.

Almoradi Market Stalls

Browsing Almoradi Market visitors will find a wide selection of new and used clothing. These also include fun clothes for children such as cartoon and Disney characters. All sorts of sports wear and football tops are on show, as is the obligatory ‘knock off’ designer wear.

By far the best clothing and accessories to buy at Spanish markets is the fantastic leather goods. There are some lovely leather jackets, waistcoats, shoes, boots, belts, hats, purses and wallets.

Local arts & crafts make a good gift idea and there are some fine examples of hand woven rugs and carpets. All sorts of electrical goods, DVD’s and video games keep the young ones happy, as does the great selection of homemade sweets, cakes and pastries.

Other food items include fresh fruit & vegetables, herbs, delicatessen, breads, cheeses, pate, pickles and tasty olives. The cooked food and drink stalls are always lively and add a pleasant social aspect to the market.

Almoradi Market is conveniently situated close to the Tourist Information Bureau. With this in mind, why not pop in for some information about the town and make a whole day of your visit.

Alternately there are guided tours of Almoradi and during market day there are fun activities to enjoy around the square. Many visitors to the market bring along swimwear and spend the rest of the day enjoying the swimming pools at the sports centre.

The centre has a cafe and terrace but it’s possible to buy some goodies at the market and enjoy a nice family picnic.
